Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Boise, Idaho

Total Budget: $1,733

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Purchase books and materials for Little Libraries

Boise Centennial Rotary has identified Basic Education and Literacy as one of its primary areas of focus. To improve literacy outcomes in our community, BCR has partnered with local preschools and schools to provide reading and reference materials in classrooms and little libraries.

We plan to build 2 little libraries (approximately $350 each to build and register). We will use the remainder of the funds to purchase books to stock the libraries, as well as partner with local schools to provide books and/or reference materials for classrooms, according to the specific needs of our partner schools.

Our goals are:

1) to provide children in the community with reading materials to improve education outcomes

2) to spread awareness of Rotary's mission by placing a Rotary sticker in each book as well as signage on the libraries

3) to engage Club members in this work (book distribution, building of little libraries)
