Project Description

Country: Mexico

Location: Tecate

Total Budget: $4,750

Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Water, sanitation and hygiene, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development, The environment

Activity Type: Community Development: Construction/Renovation

Summary: 40-50 Rotarians will build a home for a worthy family in rural Baja, Mexico in one day complete with septic system and indoor toilet.

The project will provide the most basic human need - shelter - for what could be a 3 generations.

It also makes staying in school possible and in fact a requirement.

It tends to be a life changing experience for the rotarians as well who will go home KNOWING that they did something that mattered with that day and that it will be life changing for everyone on both sides of the exchange.

It tends to serve as a reminder for Rotarians of just how great their fortunes are.
