Activity Type:
Education: General
Summary: Grants for materials purchased by teachers at 3 elementary schools in Costa Mesa, California, USA.
The funds will be used for teacher grants. Our club members will work closely with the teachers at Rea Elementary, Wilson Elementary, and Pomona Elementary (Newport-Mesa School District) to explain this program and the application process for the teacher grants at the beginning of the school year 2024. A grant application will be provided to our club by each teacher applying for a grant that identifies the project and materials they wish to request funding for. Applications will spell out how the funds will be used, how the students will benefit, and the anticipated timeline for their projects. Rotarians will review and evaluate the teacher grant requests and a committee of 8-10 Rotarians will choose the grants to be funded. The selected grants will then be awarded and materials purchased by the teachers and then reimbursed upon receipt of the supporting documentation and receipts. Club members will also actively participate in other activities permitted by the schools. Teacher grants are used for books, puzzles, playground equipment, musical instruments, garden supplies, etc. - The only limit on these grants is the teacher's imagination! Upon completion of these grants we will also invite the teachers to one of our club meetings in April 2025 to share their projects with the club.
