Project Description Country: Mexico Location: Tijuana Total Budget: $7,000 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Community Development: Volunteer Services Summary: Rotarians will help build a home for a needy family in the very poor area of East Tijuana, Mexico The primary goal of Project Mercy, a non-profit San Diego agency, is to help improve the basic living standards and quality of life for destitute families in Tijuana, Mexico. Recognizing the extreme need to alleviate the health hazards incurred by poor makeshift housing, they have organized a means, with the financial and hands-on help of organizations like Rotary, to address this basic need by building homes for designated needy families. The Rotary Club of Fallbrook, the Rotary Club of Old Mission and Fallbrook Village Rotary Club would like to support and help build a home on October 5th. The total cost of the building material and an outhouse is $7,000 The Rotary Club of Fallbrook has pledged $3,500, the Rotary Club of Old Mission has pledged $2,500 and the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club has pledged $500. We respectfully ask the District for DDF funds of $500 to complete the project. This is an opportunity for Rotarians to get together for one day and truly live the motto of "Service Above Self".
