Project Description Country: Kenya Location: Machakos Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: General Summary: The public will benefit from an organized free medical clinic for NCD's in Kangundo, Kenya. Machakos hospital serves lower Eastern Kenya region with population of over 3 million. Current Hospital data shows increased prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, high blood pressure, sicknesses associated with aflatoxins, mental health wellness and preventable cancer. This grant will fund a community free medical clinic, continuing education and outreach programs as a preventive measure. The program is expected to serve over 1500 direct beneficiaries and have over 3,000 indirect beneficiaries. The event will be at Kangundo Town or Kathiani Town - Kenya, during their market day to capture many attendees. Health education, free medical screening, immunization, nutrition guidance and referral to hospital will address the high prevalence of NCDs in Machakos county. This community outreach programs will be built on the success of 2023 -24 Rotary year similar projects at Tala Town and Masinga Town. RC El Cajon Sunset will partner with Paul Mue Foundation, Community Change Advocates and Manee Kenya.
