This grant will support continuing efforts by Paul Mue Foundation and Community Change Advocates, two grassroot Kenya government approved NGO. They will educate and train unemployed youth, single mothers and motivated low-income persons in better farming methods. Grant will also purchase tree and fruit seedlings which are used in the training program.
At MITI Educational Training Center, unemployed youth, single mothers and motivated adults are trained. There is an established fruit and tree seedlings garden. Upon sale of the seedlings, the trainees share the residual income. As part of the training requirement, the trainee volunteers will adopt a local school, teach and share their acquired skills with school students through on- campus visits. They will donate and plant fruit and tree seedlings at the adopted schools. In about three years, the school children will have free fruits on school compounds to enjoy.
The farmers education training program will generate increased food production for families, create food security and income generation through value addition. These efforts will stabilize the communities, create peace and healthy environment for school age children.
