There is a continual need for scholarships to help students, especially those from disadvantaged families, to attend college. It is predicted that over 70% of all future jobs in the US will require some higher education and that is even more true in the case of jobs in the STEM fields where available jobs will be most prevalent and living wage + productive. This project will establish a Rotary named scholarship to provide funding for students on a STEM related career path to attend Tarrant County College, Northeast Campus. Each scholarship will be up to $1,500 per academic year and as a result of a MOU between R.I. D-5790 and TCCD the student will be eligible to receive a matching scholarship amount for their second academic year providing the student has maintained a minimum 2.5 GPA and has taken a minimum of 15 credit hours in the first academic year. Tarrant County College is known for its readily accessible, affordable and high quality education in an environment where where each student's success is of paramount importance.
The scholarships will be awarded as students are identified and funding becomes available. It is anticipated that additional funding will be added to this initial amount each year from a variety of sources and the scholarship will continue to be awarded as long as funding is available.
