Summary: Provide Christmas Stockings to Elementary School Kids
his is a continuation project that the Arlington Sunrise Club has been doing for several years.
The Sunrise Club has provided support to Thornton Elementary, Anderson Elementary and Pope Elementary Schools in a variety of ways, but the most beneficial and meaningful support is through the Christmas Stocking Project. Both schools are located in depressed areas of Arlington and most kids come from minority families. The total enrollment for both schools is approximately 1200. Funding for this project allows our club to provide Christmas stockings to each student as well as holiday food baskets to a number of families. Selected club members purchase "stuffings" for the stockings and baskets and then the club members assemble to stuff the stockings. Just prior to Christmas vacation, club members meet at the two schools to give each student a stocking. This is a very popular project with our club members and most participate. Funding for this project would be required and dispersed in December 2024.
