Summary: Christmas food and gift baskets for low income families in Jerome, Idaho
For more than 23 years the Jerome Rotary Club has gathered, assembled, and delivered Christmas Baskets with food and toys to needy families in the Jerome community. Families are required to fill out an application that demonstrates financial need. Families who qualify are provided with a large box of food that includes all of the supplies necessary for a Christmas dinner (turkey, ham, potatoes, rolls, vegetables, etc.) and 2-3 gifts for every child in the family. Food baskets are also provided to needy elderly members of the community. For the last several years, the Jerome Rotary Christmas Basket project has provided baskets to more than 300 families annually. Club members are involved throughout the year in raising funds and gathering donations for the project. Club members spend multiple evenings and weekends in December sorting and wrapping toys, assembling delivery boxes, filling boxes with food and, just prior to Christmas day, delivering the baskets.
