We will conduct student and family recognition monthly event, providing certificates and snacks for accomplishments made in reading/math and attendance. We will also recognize students for achievements in many areas that typically are not emphasized........like character, attendance, kindness, helpfulness, homework completion, behavior etc. They are nominated by their teachers/counselors; we bring pizza and award certificates.
This is a Title 1 school with a high percentage of homeless families, with some students not attending school on a regular basis. Students come to school hungry and at times school is the only food they receive in a day. We hope to encourage parents to make learning a high priority for the student, give them a safe place and healthy food.
