Summary: First Aid Training to High School Students and Disaster Kit Assembly for low income households in Irvine
Irvine Rotary collaborates with Orange County Fire Authority, Irvine Police CERT Emergency Preparedness, City of Irvine, Rotaract, Interact, local paramedics and local nurses and medical practitoners in other Rotary clubs to provide life saving first aid techniques to stop bleeding in the event of a traumatic injury including tourniquet use and bandaging techniques. High School students practice on mannequins and live volunteers. Students are introduced to Rotary and volunteer opportunities with Interact and Rotaract by District representatives. The training is followed by assembly of first aid and disaster kits by Rotarians and high school students for donation to low income families via the South County Outreach food bank. Volunteers will teach first aid and assemble disaster kits. Project is performed in April. 20 club members or more will be involved
