Project Description Country: USA Location: Whitier, CA Total Budget: $7,500 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Transportation for students to the annual Children's Outreach Concert of the Whittier Regional Symphony Our club has supported this specials symphony concert which introduces chi1dren to c1assica1 music and symphony instruments as a supplement to their school-based education since the beginning of the District Grants program. The 4th and 5th graders are transported from their elementary schools in five school districts to the auditorium of Whittier High School. Approximately 2,000 students will attend. Our total contribution of $7,500 will pay for a major part of the bus costs. In the 2024-25 year we increased our total contribution to $5,250. The Whittier Regional Symphony manages the effort and underwrites the costs of the concert. Our members will be present on concert day to assist with the unboarding and reboarding of buses. This year's concert was held in May and we anticipate a similar date in 2026.
