Project Description Country: USA Location: Camp Pendleton Total Budget: $2,400 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Baby Shower provides a basket full of necessities to give the women of the 5th Marine Regiment all their babies need to start out in life. In 2008 MBSR adopted the 5th Marine Regiment and began collaboration with the Dana Point 5th Marine Regiment to provide morale-building services that the Marine Corps does not provide to Marines, Navy Corpsmen, Wounded Warriors and their families. In June 2026 Monarch Beach Sunrise Rotarians will collaborate with the 5th Marine Support Group to hold a Baby Shower for the brave mothers of the regiment. We estimate 25+ Marine Moms plus their guests will receive a special day and give their Marine babies a great start in life. Most of these young women are far from home and have little support as they begin their journey into motherhood. Some Dads are deployed and won't be home for many months and may not even be present for their baby's birth. DPSG holds a gourmet lunch, arts and crafts, games, and prizes. Dads are welcome, too! Each Mother will receive a baby basket overflowing with most-needed items including clothes, diapers, toys, gift cards, and many more necessities.The grant request is for these items and to help with the lunch. The Stork can't do it all on his own!
