The Kearney Dawn Rotary Club is pleased to submit this grant proposal for the addition of a public-use park bench at the main entrance of the Kearney Family YMCA. Located in a high-traffic, multi-generational community space, this project will provide a simple but meaningful enhancement to public accessibility, comfort, and community engagement. The YMCA is widely used by families, seniors, youth, and individuals participating in wellness, recreational, and social programs. A permanent bench installation near the entrance will serve those waiting for transportation, taking a break between activities, or accompanying family members.
This Rotary-sponsored bench will be a visual symbol of community support and service. It will be customized with Kearney Dawn Rotary Club branding, including a Rotary International emblem, to highlight Rotary's presence and impact in the community. The project is budgeted at $2,580, which includes the purchase of a durable, weather-resistant 6' or 8' bench-either constructed of recycled plastic lumber with a steel frame or tubular steel with a plastic coating-plus costs for delivery, site preparation, branding, and installation.
The bench will be installed in partnership with YMCA facility staff to ensure compliance with location guidelines and ADA accessibility standards. We anticipate completion of the project in Fall 2025. Through this project, Kearney Dawn Rotary continues its mission of service above self by investing in functional, inclusive, and visible improvements to our shared public spaces.
