Identified Needs
Through a recent club survey and discussions with community partners, our Club has identified hunger, lack of access to hygiene products, and clothing insecurity as significant challenges in our community. Food insecurity has grown more severe in recent years, with many families struggling to afford basic nutrition. In addition, the cost of essential hygiene items, particularly feminine hygiene products, places an additional burden on families with limited resources. Access to appropriate clothing, especially for vulnerable households, also remains a pressing need.
Project Plan and Use of Funds
This project will address these urgent needs by providing food baskets, feminine hygiene products, and essential clothing to families identified as food- and resource-insecure. Grant funds will be used primarily to purchase nutritious food staples (including rice, lentils, flour, cereal, cooking oil, sugar, salt, and protein bars) and feminine hygiene items. Clothing will be sourced through community donations, supplemented by grant funds only when specific needs cannot be met through donations.
Rotarian Involvement
Club members will play an active role in every stage of the project:
Partnerships: Collaborating with local community organizations and sister Rotary Clubs to identify recipient families.
Procurement: Purchasing food items and hygiene products from local vendors, ensuring both cost-effectiveness and community economic support.
Donations: Collecting clothing items from members, partners, and donors.
Assembly: Preparing baskets that combine food, hygiene items, and clothing tailored to each family's needs.
Distribution: Coordinating and delivering baskets directly to families, ensuring dignity and confidentiality for recipients.
Timeline
The project will be implemented between late October 2025 and early January 2026. Baskets will be assembled and distributed in multiple phases, aligned with the availability of members and recipient needs in different locations. Being an e-Club with members across various areas, distributions will take place at several locations. Where feasible, we will collaborate with sister Rotary Clubs in District 7230 to maximize outreach and impact.
Sustainability and Impact
By addressing immediate nutritional, hygiene, and clothing needs, the project will improve the well-being of vulnerable families and foster stronger connections between our Club and the communities we serve. Through partnerships, ongoing donations, and collaboration with other Rotary Clubs, the project will also build a foundation for continued service initiatives in these focus areas.
