Project Description Region: Africa Country: Kenya Location: Kimilili, Kenya Total Budget: $40,000 Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and conflict prevention, Disease prevention and treatment, Water, sanitation and hygiene, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development The Kimilili community is affected by floods. There are 125 children in the orphanage. Children in the orphanage are having emergency needs including food, medication, clothes and mattresses. The project objectives are to construct evacuation measures, promote hygiene and sanitation and create a playground to better monitor children. The construction of pit latrines and bathrooms will reduce waterborne diseases. The constructed centre of hope will be one of the evacuation shelters with one kitchen and water well, four pit latrines, four bathrooms, and an open area for tents. the project will promote education, sanitation and protection issues of community and promote youth development through sports.
