Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health, Basic education and literacy, Community economic development
This project will train about 150 young women from the slums of Manila to become caregivers (nurses). The skills they will learn will enable these women to become economically independent, able to support themselves and their families and at the same time, improve the healthcare in their areas and be able to fund their children's education.
An identical project was just successfully completed with 149 graduates of which 61% work in nursing, 16% work in daycare, 22% work in elderly care and 2% care for sick relatives.
This project is also sponsored by the D-1870 German chapter of the Rotary Fellowship of Wine Appreciation, (www.weinfellow.org) and it's non-profit and independent foundation, IN-VINO-CARITAS. It also has the support of the Rotary Fellowship of Wine Appreciation, Inc. and all RFWA members and their clubs are urged to participate.
Your project is "Fully Pledged". This means the amount of the pledges is equal to the total budget of the project. Now the project needs to be finalized and go through the approval process with The Rotary Foundation. This process gets started on the administration page.
Project listed for the 2024-25 Rotary Year.

DDF contributions in grey are pending approval of the corresponding district committee.
Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
