A capacity-building process is proposed through Positive Peace workshops, both for school students and for the various actors belonging to the school environment, seeking to raise awareness among participants about the importance of building a multidimensional and complex peace, which addresses the various factors that favor community resilience. As a complement to the Classroom Assemblies, which promote integration and a culture of peace in school groups, recreational workshops will be given to students between 6 and 11 years old; and between 11 and 14 years old. Likewise, it is proposed to work with teachers and parents, and even with other key actors in the immediate environment of the school community. San José de Cúcuta, located on the border between Colombia and Venezuela, faces a complex social and economic situation, marked by the migration crisis from Venezuela. The massive influx of migrants has put great pressure on public services, infrastructure, and the local labor market, exacerbating social tensions and inequalities in the region. Historically dependent on cross-border trade, Cúcuta's economy has suffered due to intermittent border closures and informal employment, which has increased unemployment and other social challenges. In the area of security, the region is affected by the presence of illegal armed groups such as the ELN and FARC dissidents, who are involved in criminal activities such as drug trafficking and extortion. This situation has led to an increase in levels of urban violence and contributed to insecurity in the area. In addition, proximity to Venezuela and weak border control have facilitated illegal activities that aggravate the security crisis.
To improve the coexistence and development of community members, through the implementation of workshops and training activities that promote community resilience and social integration; as well as the understanding and promotion of the factors that contribute to the construction of sustainable peace. To develop the understanding of students, teachers, and parents about the fundamental concepts of positive peace and the factors that support it, to promote attitudes of respect, solidarity, and tolerance among students, as well as in the educational community in general, fostering empathy and appreciation of cultural diversity, especially in a context marked by migration and socioeconomic differences. (Attitudes). To develop dialogue skills, peaceful conflict resolution, and effective communication in students, teachers, and parents, enabling them to constructively manage social tensions and actively contribute to social cohesion and peace in their school and community environment. (Skills)
At the Teresa Guasch School No. 56 in San José de Cúcuta, public educational services are currently provided to approximately 600 preschool and primary school students, whose ages range from 4 to 14 years old, and 20 teachers work there. The school does not have a space other than the classroom, equipped for group workshops to support students at a socio-emotional level using various educational and technological resources, such as the "Classroom Assemblies" that have been held at this institution for more than 5 years. There is also no office for individual psychosocial care for students and their families by the school counselor and support teacher, which is a fundamental space for dealing with problems specific to this community. Currently, there is a space with poor lighting and ventilation conditions, with a structure that has not been equipped as an office, where some furniture and resources are kept, but with divisions that do not facilitate group work.
The aim of this project is to ensure that the "Classroom Assemblies" have an environment in which interaction, cooperative work and socio-emotional strengthening are privileged, focusing on the promotion of peace, conflict resolution and human rights and prevention against possible latent risks in this context.
