Project Description Region: South America Country: Colombia Location: Envigado, Antioquia Total Budget: $4,430 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health The family unit, faced with the need to work, educate and provide well-being to their children, has been forced to seek care and support in protective environments that are accessible and favor the integral development of their children. Our environment as the Rotary Educational Center in Envigado, has not been oblivious to these needs that arise today, where the search for providing economic stability to the family also prevails and therefore seeks to rely on the educational service that promotes the integral formation of boys and girls. Needs • Protection, care and development of early childhood (pregnant mothers, children from 0 to 2 years old). • Families must develop a work activity to earn a living. • Accessible, protective spaces that provide comprehensive car How the needs will be met: • Providing a space suitable for the comprehensive care of children, promoting a protective and high-quality environment. • With spaces full of life, harmonious, that generate tranquility and well-being for users. • With suitable and trained personnel for the care of this type of population Beneficiaries of this project: • Families, pregnant mothers and children between 2 and 18 months Estimated number of beneficiaries: • Pregnant mothers: 20 • Nursery children (0 to 1 year): 20 • Toddlers (1 to 2 years): 20 • Preschool children (2 to 3 years): 20 SUSTAINABILITY: • The project will continue to operate when the break-even point is reached with 75 children paying the monthly fee. • With the permanent monthly payment of 20 pregnant mothers per course. IS THE COMMUNITY INVOLVED? DESCRIBE THE ROLE OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY IN PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINUITY. Through an experiential methodology, the community participated in the construction of the project based on their needs. And for this, a 5-hour work session was held where the following questions were developed: what?, when?, how much?, who?, why?, what for?, and how? of the project for the construction of nurseries and pregnant mothers. And as a conclusion of this session, we arrived at the official proposal to carry out this project.
