NEWBORN NEWLIFE MANILA is a humanitarian project addressing one of the 7 areas of focus; Maternal and Child Health.
The target beneficiary would be the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) located in Manila. With its guaranteed "no billing policy" and being the only national referral centre for tertiary care in the entire country, their system is easily overwhelmed with the daily influx of indigent patients. In the paediatrics department alone, 1000 out of 1500 newborns in ICU admissions annually requires usage of incubators. Currently, they lack incubators in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit) and emergency ward. They also need at least one defibrillators in NICU. Another crucial equipment are the biorefrigerators that will complement or replace their inappropriate household refrigerators.
The objective of this project is to lower the no. of infant deaths occurring in Manila. In 2024, there are 989 infants deaths recorded. The highest no. of infant deaths for a city in the Philippines.
The beneficiary, for their part will provide us impact assessment for our sustainability report. ( Please see attachments for details )
