Proposal Form

Summer Holeman has been accepted to the PhD in Health in Social Sciences at the Univ. of Edinburgh starting Sept 2025. The scholarship grant will be used to fund the first year of tuition as an international student in the United Kingdom. Physical inactivity is a prevalent area for health intervention due to its association with the cause of preventable, noncommunicable health conditions. Successful physical activity interventions in the UK are shown to be both cost effective for healthcare and associated with higher quality of life. A better understanding of which interventions are most effective is needed. Further evaluation of intervention programs will address barriers to implementing preventive healthcare and for the best allocation of funding for effective and sustainable interventions. Evaluations also allow for informed collaboration between organizations, health professionals, policymakers and funding agencies. Holeman's research will connect theoretical health intervention research with a form of widely recognized real-world application supporting the ability of healthcare services, providers, and policymakers to create meaningful, sustainable improvement to long-term health outcomes.

Note: as of July 1, 2015 there is a 5% additional support fee for cash contributions. This fee does not appear in the financials above because it does not apply if the funds are sent directly to the project account (without going through TRF, and therefore without Paul Harris credit). Clubs sending their cash contribution to TRF must be aware they will have to send an additional 5%.
