Project Description
The PRANADHARA initiative, spearheaded by the Rotary Club of Calcutta in collaboration with the International Rotary Club partners ( Rotary Club of Colleyville, Rotary Club of Fort worth in District 5790 ) , other Rotary clubs in India, Singapore and Rotary Foundation through a Global Grant, is a community-driven effort to provide clean and safe drinking water to underserved populations in rural West Bengal.
The primary objective is to improve the overall health, hygiene, and well-being of local communities by ensuring access to virus- and bacteria-free water, especially in schools and village centers.
Phase I: PRANADHARA - Community Drinking Water
• Scope: Installation of 10 large-scale water filtration plants (1,000 LPH capacity) in selected rural villages.
• Partner: TATA Swachh Jaal
• Impact:
o Daily access to clean drinking water for over 20,000 villagers
o Positive transformation in community health and hygiene standards
o Strengthened Rotary's presence as a trusted partner in sustainable development
Phase II: PRANADHARA-II - Expanding Reach to Schools and Families
Building on the success of Phase I, Pranadhara-II aims to extend the benefits of purified water to schoolchildren and their families.
•Scope: Installation of 22 compact water filtration plants (500 LPH capacity) across schools and village communities
• Technology Partner: Tata Tech Jaal
• Expected Benefits:
o Daily access to clean drinking water for thousands of students, parents, and community members
o Improved hygiene and reduced incidence of waterborne illnesses
o Use of purified water for government-sponsored mid-day meal programs, ensuring safer food preparation for children
o Empowerment of rural communities through better health and dignity
