Summary: Establish a food pantry at the St. Arbor Community Garden (Little Elm) site for food insecure residents of Denton and Collin County
The North Texas Food Bank has established that 40% of people living below poverty level are food insecure. The Little Elm St.Arbor Community Center helps address that need by growing and distributing fresh produce. However, there is also a need for many non-perishable food items. This Rotary project will establish a food pantry for non-perishable items at the St. Arbor Community Center to supplement the what is currently being done. Project funds will be used establish, stock, and replenish a food pantry. Rotary members will keep an inventory of food items, and stock as funds allow. Both the Rotary and the Community Center will seek other partners to support and grow this pantry. We feel this project has the potential to make a meaningful impact on the residents of Collin and Denton Counties.
