Summary: This project will establish a youth gardening initiative at Waymakers Youth Shelter in Tustin, California which provides emergency housing and critical services to over 400 youth ages 11–17 each year.
Waymakers Tustin Youth Shelter is the project host site and partner. Rotarians will work alongside shelter staff and residents to convert, design and build existing flower beds into raised gardens, by mentoring and providing role models and encouraging skill-building and wellness. The total funding for this project is $2000 and will be used to purchase materials to build the raised beds and garden tools and educational materials.
Planning for this project will begin after grant approval by TRF and will be completed by June 30th, 2026. It is estimated that 10-15 Rotarians will be involved in the 1-2-day on-site construction and mentoring of the youth.
Approved
This project is "Approved". This means that the district leadership has reviewed and approved the allocation of district funds for this project. Once the funds from the district have been issued, the status of the project will be changed to "Paid".
