Project Description

Region: North America

Country: USA

Location: Springfield, Illinois

Total Budget: $157,321

Area of Focus: Community economic development

This grant is focused on building 15 work stations in our computer lab at Computer Banc in Springfield Illinois. Developing a climate controlled storage room to protect equipment that is sensitive to moisture and heat.(Space that is currently part of the lab). And installing a required ADA access ramp and parking pad.

The program provides job training for those reentering the work force and hardship workers who participate in a back to work program(s). Additionally we provide work/training opportunities for individuals who are receiving government financial assistance who are now required to work for benefits. Through four local program partners in our county we expect to triple the number of worker/trainees served.

Computer Banc in turn provides refurbished computers to other nonprofits and schools both in the USA and internationally. Additionally serving individuals receiving government assistance, children and students in need, military veterans, and other disadvantaged individuals.

Computer Banc also reduced e-waste by over 80 tons in 2024. The additional work stations will also allow us to

increase e-waste processing by over 30%.
